COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Scientific studies suggest that a kind and compassionate attitude can greatly reduce the distress people feel in difficult situations and become a profound personal resource in times of stress. Through instruction and the interactive nature of the processes incorporated in this workshop, you will have opportunities to cultivate new ways in which to access, recognize, and strengthen compassion and empathy as a response in your life.

In this workshop, participants will explore questions about the nature of compassion relevant to the ebb & flow of their own real-world daily life experiences. The content of the course is holistic, meaning various modalities have been woven into its design to address the multiplicity of levels and richness that is our shared human experience. Workshop processes include: Guided compassion techniques, movement and breathing exercises, meditation exercises, contemplative practices, inquiry, and emotional clearing work — all designed to release that which blocks your ability to access love and open the heart of compassion.

A Weekend Intensive into the Heart of Compassion is exactly that: A 2-day workshop intended to develop the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness in and for oneself and others. It combines traditional contemplative practices with contemporary psychology, scientific research and experiential processes that can help you both allow and understand the many different ways compassion can be experienced — in order to lead a more compassionate life. While not the same, the inspiration for this “Weekend Intensive into the Heart of Compassion” grew out of the Compassion Cultivation Training course developed by the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University School of Medicine.

She is co-founder, facilitator and lead trainer of The Inner Journey Institute, a non-profit organization that has delivered transformational seminars across the US, Canada and Europe since 1999. Her background includes the study of Eastern spirituality and Western psychology, facilitating meditation and yoga retreats, personal growth workshops, counseling homeless people, teaching children, coaching men, women and couple, and co-authoring a book on compassionate Divorce. Neelama studied the Diamond Logos Work under Faisal Muquaddin, where she acquired a unique blend of psychological and spiritual techniques to help people access their true nature and inherent essential/spiritual states.
